Concert

Järna Cello Festival

Three days of cello over the All Saints’ weekend: concerts, master classes and a finale with 19 cellos and 4 double basses.

Cellists playing together on the stage of Kulturhuset in front of a blue curtain.

About the event

The cello festival returns to Kulturhuset over the All Saints’ weekend. Andreas Brantelid, Valerie Fritz and Kati Raitinen are the festival’s solo cellists, together with the pianist Bengt Forsberg, the soprano Ida Falk Winland and more cellists and students.

Friday’s concert grows from a single cello to eight. On Saturday there are sonatas for cello and piano by Jakob Adolf Hägg, Rebecca Clarke and Sergei Prokofiev. Sunday’s finale brings out rarely played music and ends with Anton Andersen’s Elégie sinfonique for 19 cellos and 4 double basses.

On Friday and Saturday mornings Brantelid and Fritz give master classes, and the students play short concerts at 12:12. You can buy a ticket for a single concert or a pass for the whole festival.
